Predicting multi-hadron electroweak processes from the QCD path integral
/ Hansen, Max (speaker)
I will discuss recent progress and open challenges in computing multi-hadron electroweak amplitudes from lattice QCD, a Euclidean, finite-volume, discretised formulation of quantum chromodynamics. Starting from the underlying quarks and gluons, QCD predicts a spectrum of hadrons—such as the pion, kaon, and D meson—whose masses and matrix elements can now be computed with sub-percent precision using numerical lattice QCD [...]

A final moment for the muon
/ Winter, Peter (speaker)
PLEASE NOTE THE UNUSUAL TIME (14H00)
The Muon g-2 Experiment at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory was designed to measure the muon magnetic anomaly, aµ, with a target precision of 140 parts-per-billion; a four-fold improvement over the former measurement from the early 2000s at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). The experiment was motivated by the ~3.5 standard deviation between the BNL result and the Standard Model prediction of aµ; which could be a hint of new physics.
The Muon g-2 collaboration recently finished the analysis of the final three years of data taking [...]

Neutron Stars – Nature’s most extreme laboratory
/ Noronha-Hostler, Jacquelyn (speaker) (University of Illinois Urbana Champaign)
When intermediate mass stars have spent their fuel, a powerful explosion occurs called a supernova that then undergoes a gravitational collapse into a neutron star. Neutron stars reach the largest densest in the universe at their core, anything denser would collapse into a black hole. [...]
