High Power Slow Extraction for BDF/SHiP at CERN SPS
/ Fraser, Matthew Alexander (CERN) ; Sota, Pablo Arrutia (CERN) ; Balhan, Bruno (CERN) ; Borburgh, Jan (CERN) ; Calviani, Marco (CERN) ; Esposito, Luigi (CERN) ; Goddard, Brennan (CERN) ; Kain, Verena (CERN) ; Lackner, Friedrich (CERN) ; Velotti, Francesco (CERN) et al.
The High Intensity ECN3 (HI-ECN3) project at CERN aims to increase the intensity to the SPS North Area’s only underground experimental area ECN3 by well over an order of magnitude to welcome the Search for Hidden Particles (SHiP) experiment at a new Beam Dump Facility (BDF). The project necessitates significant upgrades to the SPS slow extraction system to accommodate higher intensity proton beams while minimising beam loss and radio-activation. [...]

Inception of evaporative dryout for CO2 in milliscale pipe flows
/ Cantini, Giulio (Bath U. ; CERN) ; Hellenschmidt, Desiree (CERN) ; Pedano, Camila (CERN) ; Petagna, Paolo (CERN) ; Sangan, Carl (Bath U.) ; Carnevale, Mauro (Bath U. ; CERN)
Carbon dioxide is a cost-effective, reliable and environmentally-friendly refrigerant with increasing employment in evaporator design. A clear understanding of the underlying flow physics, coupled with robust
prediction of phase change through boiling, is necessary to enable widespread uptake of CO2 as a coolant.
In scenarios such as nuclear reactors or thermal management in silicon detectors (e.g., Large Hadron Collider
at CERN), employing saturated CO2
in milliscale pipes introduces further uncertainties in the design process,
particularly regarding its behaviour at high vapour quality. [...]

Beam profile evolution induced by rf crab cavity amplitude noise in the CERN SPS
/ Fornara, A (Manchester U.) ; Appleby, R B (Manchester U.) ; Bartosik, H (CERN) ; Buffat, X (CERN) ; Calaga, R (CERN) ; Kostoglou, S (CERN) ; Sterbini, G (CERN) ; Trad, G (CERN) ; Triantafyllou, N (CERN)
In the context of the large hadron collider (LHC) luminosity upgrade, rf crab cavities (CCs) are key components for achieving the target integrated luminosity. Due to the increased bunch intensity required to achieve this goal, the collider will operate with a large crossing angle scheme to alleviate the long-range beam-beam effects. [...]

LBNF/DUNE Liquid Argon Roadmap
/ Maciazka, Matt (Fermilab) ; Adamowski, Mark (Fermilab) ; Bremer, Johan (CERN) ; Campbell, John (MP Consulting, Longwood) ; Delaney, Michael (Fermilab) ; Doubnik, Roza (Fermilab) ; Fabre, Caroline (CERN) ; Montanari, David (Fermilab) ; Nichols, Trevor (Fermilab) ; Parchet, Adrien (CERN) et al.
The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is an international flagship venture to unlock the mysteries of neutrinos. Hosted at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) and supported by the Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF), DUNE relies on nearly 75,000 tonnes of ultrapure liquid argon (LAr) housed in state-of-the-art cryostats. Mixed Neutron and Gamma Effects on Optical Fibers and Coating Materials
/ Perrot, J (Jean Monnet U.) ; Ferrari, M (Jean Monnet U.) ; Bernardes, A (CERN) ; Morana, A (Jean Monnet U.) ; Avesani, M (Jean Monnet U.) ; Marin, E (Jean Monnet U.) ; Ouerdane, Y (Jean Monnet U.) ; Boukenter, A (Jean Monnet U.) ; Bertrand, J (ANDRA, Chatenay-Malabry) ; Crouvizier, M D (CERN) et al.
This work aims to characterize the vulnerability of radiation-hardened silica-based optical fibers to be implemented in mixed neutron/gamma fields and hydrogen-rich environments. We first investigated radiation effects at microscopic scale, including radiation-induced attenuation (RIA) in the Near- InfraRed (NIR) domain and neutron-induced Refractive Index Changes (RIC). Upgrade of the CERN cryogenic test facility for the HL-LHC superconducting magnets and superconducting links
/ Pirotte, O (CERN) ; Barbe, T (CERN) ; Buzio, M (CERN) ; Dassa, L (CERN) ; Gahier, V (CERN) ; Guillotin, N (CERN) ; Lees, A (CERN) ; Mangiarotti, F (CERN) ; Mauny, R (CERN) ; Ninet, G (CERN) et al.
New superconducting magnets, based on Nb$_{3}$Sn technology, have been developed for the HL-LHC project, the High-Luminosity upgrade of the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at Interaction Points 1 and 5. These magnets require thorough testing in cryogenic conditions at 4.5 and 1.9 K before their installation into the LHC. [...]

How digital twins can help with operator training, an example with ATLAS and CMS detector’s cryogenics at CERN
/ Jimenez, L (CERN) ; Majorel, A (CERN ; GANIL) ; Bradu, B (CERN) ; Gahier, V (CERN)
This paper presents the implementation of a cryogenic process simulator applied to A Toroidal LHC Apparatus (ATLAS) and the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiments at CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research). Building upon the development of a digital twin of the complex LHC accelerator cryogenic system, this work extends its application to the specific needs of the ATLAS and CMS experiments and their dedicated cryogenic systems.
