Anthropogenic organic aerosol in Europe produced mainly through second-generation oxidation / Xiao, Mao ; Wang, Mingyi ; Mentler, Bernhard ; Garmash, Olga ; Lamkaddam, Houssni ; Molteni, Ugo ; Simon, Mario ; Ahonen, Lauri ; Amorim, Antonio ; Baccarini, Andrea et al.
Exposure to anthropogenic atmospheric aerosol is a major health issue, causing several million deaths per year worldwide. The oxidation of aromatic hydrocarbons from traffic and wood combustion is an important anthropogenic source of low-volatility species in secondary organic aerosol, especially in heavily polluted environments. Isoprene Aerosol Growth in the Upper Troposphere: Application of the Diagonal Volatility Basis Set to CLOUD Chamber Measurements / Bhattacharyya, Nirvan ; Lopez, Brandon ; DeVivo, Jenna ; Russell, Douglas M ; Shen, Jiali ; Sommer, Eva (CERN) ; Almeida, João (CERN) ; Amorim, Antonio ; Beckmann, Hannah M ; Busato, Mattia (CERN) et al.
Isoprene oxygenated organic molecules (IP-OOM) can nucleate new particles in the upper troposphere. These particles may grow into cloud condensation nuclei and influence the clouds and climate. [...]

FCC― 次世代円形衝突型加速器 / OIDE, Katsunobu (CERN ; U. Geneva (main) ; KEK, Tsukuba)
FCC is a project for a next generation circular collider based at CERN, as the next step of LEP/LHC experiments. It will have at least two stages : (i) measurements on electroweak (Z/W), Higgs, tt by e+e- collision (FCC-ee) and (ii) energy frontier pp collision (FCC-hh) up to 100 TeV center of mass (CM) energy. Both will be performed by colliders in the same tunnel with 90–100 km circumference built around the Geneva area across the Swiss-French border..

In this work, we utilize a new suite of Milky Way-mass halos from the DREAMS Project, simulated with Cold Dark Matter (CDM), to quantify the influence of baryon feedback and intrinsic halo-to-halo variance on dark matter density profiles. Our suite of 1024 halos varies over supernova and black hole feedback parameters from the IllustrisTNG model, as well as variations in two cosmological parameters. [...]

After the discovery of a cross-luminescence (CL) in BaF2 in 1982, a large number of CL scintillators were investigated. However, no CL scintillator superior to BaF2 has been discovered, and the research of CL scintillators has subsided. [...]

Ionization Radiation Damage of 65 nm nMOS Technologies Under Different Bulk Voltages and Temperatures / Viqueira Rodríguez, Manuel (CERN) ; Borghello, Giulio (CERN) ; Lopez-Vallejo, Marisa (Tech. U. Madrid (main))
In high-energy physics experiments, the transistors of monolithic active pixel sensors (MAPS) typically operate with a p-type substrate connected to voltages below 0 V. This back bias is used to expand the depletion region of the detector, thereby enhancing its detection efficiency. [...]

In the large hadron collider (LHC), it is essential to provide repeatable high energy hadron (HEH) measurements with reduced uncertainty to accurately track HEH trends as a function of machine operations and tunnel configurations. This level of precision is crucial not only for understanding the machine’s behavior, but also for defining radiation qualification requirements for systems installed in the accelerator. [...]
