ALICE Inner Tracking System upgrade, ITS3: characterization of first chips fabricated in 65 nm CMOS technology / Trifirò, A. (Messina U. ; INFN, Catania) /ALICE Collaboration
The Inner Tracking System of ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) will undergo a major upgrade during the next Long Shutdown of the LHC aimed at enhancing the tracking capability [1]. In particular, the three innermost sectors of the current vertex tracker will be replaced by truly cylindrical layers produced by using curved (wafer-scale) silicon sensors thinner than 50 μm, based on monolithic active pixel structures realised in a 65 nm CMOS process. [...]

ITS3: the ALICE Inner Tracking System upgrade / Sarritzu, V. (CERN ; Cagliari U. ; INFN, Cagliari) /ALICE Collaboration
The ALICE experiment at CERN is developing an upgrade to its vertexing detector in order to improve the impact parameter resolution at low transverse momenta, with a target timeline for installation during the third long shutdown of the LHC (2026–28). The concept consists in replacing the three innermost layers with wafer-scale monolithic active pixel sensors bent into truly cylindrical sensors wrapped around the beam pipe. [...]

ALICE - ITS3 — A bent, wafer-scale CMOS detector / Kluge, A (CERN) /ALICE Collaboration
During the LHC Long Shutdown 3, ALICE is upgrading its inner three silicon tracker layers with a bent wafer-scale monolithic pixel detector, the ITS3. Each layer comprises only two wafer-scale sensors, 27 cm long, 50μm thick, bent to concentric half-layers around the beam pipe (radii: 19, 25, 32 mm) supported by carbon foam stiffeners. [...]

Characterisation of small scale MLR1 devices for ALICE ITS3 / Sturniolo, Alessandro (Messina U. ; INFN, Catania) /ALICE Collaboration
During the upcoming Long Shutdown 3 (scheduled for 2026–2029), the ALICE Inner Tracking System (ITS), currently at its second version (ITS2), will be further upgraded to ITS3. After the upgrade, the 3 innermost ITS2 layers (Inner Barrel, or IB) will be replaced by 3 flexible, truly cylindrical layers of stitched large-scale MAPS, produced with the TPSCo 65 nm technology. Measurement of the impact-parameter dependent azimuthal anisotropy in coherent ρ0 photoproduction with ALICE / Riffero, Andrea G (INFN, Turin ; U. Turin (main)) /ALICE Collaboration
Coherent vector meson photoproduction in ultraperipheral heavy-ion collisions is a well established tool to probe the gluon structure of the colliding nuclei. We will focus on the observation of quantum interference effects in the ρ 0 meson photoproduction, in the form of angular anisotropy [...]

Recent developments in open heavy-flavour physics: ALICE highlights / Sadhu, Samrangy (Bonn U.) /ALICE Collaboration
Recent progress in open heavy-flavour physics has enhanced our understanding of charm and beauty quark behaviour in the hot and dense medium created in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. The ALICE experiment at the LHC has played a leading role, delivering precision measurements that probe the Quark–Gluon plasma (QGP). [...]

The University of Bergen is involved in developing two calorimeters: the pixel section ofthe Electromagnetic Forward Calorimeter for the ALICE Upgrade to be installed during LS3 fordata-taking in the period 2029–2032 and the Digital Tracking Calorimeter for the proton ComputedTomography prototype. Both designs utilize pixel sensors and require a reliable connection to thereadout which is positioned approximately 5 meters away. [...]

Insight into the light-flavour particle production mechanism from studies of the transverse spherocity dependence in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ =13 TeV with ALICE at the LHC / Rath, Rutuparna (INFN, Bologna) /ALICE Collaboration
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) Run 1 and Run 2 data revealed heavy-ion-like features such as enhanced strangeness production and long-range azimuthal correlation in high-multiplicity pp collisions paving the way to rethink particle production in small collision systems. Event shape observables like transverse spherocity are sensitive to isotropic and jet-like topologies, which are useful tools to distinguish the pp collisions dominated by soft or hard physics. [...]

Furthermore, the recent Λc+/D0 yield ratio, measured down to pT = 0 in p-Pb collisions are discussed. [...]

Charm production: Constraint to transport models and charm diffusion coefficient with ALICE / Völkl, Martin (Heidelberg U.) /ALICE Collaboration
New measurements of D mesons with the ALICE detector, interpreted with theoretical models, can give additional information about the spatial diffusion coefficient, a characteristic of the QGP medium. The relevant ingredients to the models can be assessed by comparing the predictions with diverse measurements of charmed hadrons. [...]
